Healthy Summer Habits To Keep All Year Long!

July 3, 2023

According to the influx of gym memberships—it is officially Summer! And unfortunately, some of us are regretting letting go of our New Year’s fitness resolution and scrambling to get “beach body ready.”

Spoiler alert! We live in Hawaii and the weather permits a “beach body” all year long! So, give up the hype of “30 Days To…Get Fit Quick, Drop Pounds Fast…Etc.” and invest in a “lifestyle” body that YOU love, and YOU can maintain.

1. Ignore the Hype

“But I’ve seen the results, I’ve got proof it works!”

Sure, that juice diet might let you drop 5 lbs. per week, but then again, replacing your normal meals with juice shakes with minimal calories will have the same effect.

Gloomily, this is not sustainable and you’re sure to rebound to previous weight. Instead, spend the time training your body efficiently, and learning how to nourish your body effectively.

2. Set a Realistic Goal

Achieving your “lifestyle” body will require hard work, perseverance, and commitment. It might take you all summer just to find your groove in training, so setting fitness goals is crucial. It can also provide the encouragement you may need to stay focused and keep going.

Results are not instant, so be honest with yourself and take your fitness journey one step at a time. It will better your chances of staying committed to a lifestyle change rather than a fad.

3. Find Your Community

A good support system and fitness community is a vital element to reaching your goals in a healthy way. Verbalize your goals to friends and family, attend group classes, join fitness groups online, or participate in recreational activities in your local community—these are all great ways to stay accountable and motivated (especially if you are a beginner).

4. Drink Plenty of Water

Hydration is key! There are numerous benefits that go hand in hand with drinking water, such as lubricating your joints, boosting healthy skin, cushioning the brain and other sensitive tissues, as well as maintaining blood pressure. Whether you’re looking to lose weight or build muscle, your body will go through a lot when in a high intensity workout, so keeping hydrated is essential.

For those who struggle to drink enough water, try setting water alarms on your phone, keep a flask with you or in the car, or try a water tracker app.

5. Think Beyond Summer

Commit to a lifestyle that will make you feel better all-around for all year long! The more energized and productive you feel, the more you’re going to want to continue doing the things that are contributing to your wellbeing. Live a life that feels good on the inside, as much as the outside.
